چکیده

The present study was carried out to investigate the antihyperglycemic effect of Oxytenanthera abyssinica leaf extract and fractions. Diabetes induced in rats by administering a single dose 150 mg/kg alloxan monohydrate. Single doses 100 200 methanol (Met-E), n-hexane fraction (nHex-F), ethyl-acetate (EA-F) (Met-F) were orally administered diabetic rats. Met-E Met-F selected at 400 mg/kg. plasma glucose level checked 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24 h after treatment acute study. Then once daily administration evaluated chronic for 28 days. significantly (p<0.05) decreased 12th hour while their marked decrease observed 4th treatment. repeated showed significant end 1st, 3rd weeks 2nd, weeks. Treatment with reduced pancreatic tissue deterioration compared control. results that exerted both administration, which might be due an amelioration alloxan-induced islet’s damages.
